Structure of This Book

The sections in this book focus on three main themes:

A.     Create your support group

B.     Take care of your needs

C.     Deliver value to the organization

Within these themes are 23 independent ideas or “secrets,” that are numbered sequentially. In the appendices, an assessment tool and a set of ideas and actions that are numbered according to same 23 ideas.

It is not necessary to read this book from front to back. If there are particular topics that interest you the most, feel free to read the appropriate chapters and the corresponding portions of the appendices. You will find these ideas are connected, so you may end up exploring the ideas in random order. Feel free to read it that way! This is your book, so use it in whatever way is most useful for you.

The appendices contain an exercise that you can use to identify specific areas to work on and additional steps you can take to make tangible progress. It is probably best if you focus on only one or two areas at a time so you can see concrete results in a short time. You will gain energy by seeing quick results, which will help launch you into more significant work on improving your job situation.
